Moisturizing System – The key to healthy skin moisture is to preserve and buffer the natural moisture already present in the skin.  Many competing products coat the face with a vapor barrier and artificially raise skin moisture which leads to unhealthy skin in the long term. AktaDerm’s proprietary blend of hyaluronan and cross-linked polymers provide a natural reservoir of moisture and allow for the normal exchange of water vapor. 

Hyaluronan is the naturally occurring sugar polymer present in healthy skin and in many plants.  It is nature’s moisture buffer and keeps cell membranes well hydrated. With age and during periods of stress we produce less hyaluronan than is required to keep skin fully hydrated.  Further, natural enzymes called hyaluronidases break down this sugar polymer and reduce its effectiveness.  To combat this loss we replenish your skin with a highly refined plant hyaluronan.  This Moisturizing System is available in our Neúvia and MutiFactor [Q] products.
